Flower Thoughts Dahlia information

View this email in your browser
There are so many different varieties of Dahlias... I found all of these at Hope Dahlias (my friends Barb and Kristen) at the Fulton Farmers Market...

(Learn more about HOPE Dahlias- Click on the Picture to watch a video about their dahlias- from 2016 from My West Michigan- or click here)

Since Dahlias are Octoploids (the only known flower to have 8 Chromosomes... they can exhibit different flower shapes, petal shapes, colors and much more... they are the most diverse of any flower-

Just look at the differences in this picture...  notice how some petals are shaggy (Laciniated) top left and top middle....
or Spiky - Like "Porcupine" in the bottom left...
Or the petals may have colored edges- bottom right
or variegated - middle left and center ... or even spots- middle right!

And the sizes range from Dinner plate to small ball shapes...
