Florists Review tip of the week

April 27, 2015        Florists Review Magazine

Design Technique: Stacking

img2
Stacking is the orderly placement of like materials, either individually or in bunches, side by side or on top of each other with no space in between. Stems of materials may be stacked either horizontally (the most common) or vertically. With horizontal stacking, stems may be arranged closely together in the side of a block of foam or literally laid on top of each other. Here, Cocculus leaves are threaded on to the stem of a Gerbera. Each of the leaves is punched with a hole punch.

One in a series of Design Techniques from the Florists' Review Design School book.

Flowers Everywhere

The smell is fantastic!!
Wow we have fresh flowers everywhere in the classroom this week!😄
These are sample designs to inspire the students in EFD class( explore floral design)

EFD class... look at what we are creating

These are my sample designs for the students.  This week is our second time to design and we are learning to create everyday designs, proactive designs that have a big look in design and are quick and profitable.
We aren't creating those same old and tired design styles...same concepts of 3 roses in a vase, mixed flowers in a vase, 2 carnations etc....
The students are doing a great job, watch for the designs here!😄🌸❗️

A students review of the flower classroom & instructor

Today I am sharing a Students review of the flower classroom class: Explore Floral Design

Her class began in January for 12 Mondays and ended on April 6th.  I ask every student that enrolls into this class to give me and the classroom a review, I know I can't impove myself or the classroom without this review of what the students are thinking!

**Please tell me about your experience:

Great!  Going into this loving flowers, but knowing nothing about floral design.  Learning as not just playing with flowers there is a lot to know, so I have learned alot.  This has been a life changing experience for me.  I look at flowers in a new way also.  Thank you.

**Did the class hit or miss the mark for you?

Has hit the mark for me.  I am very happy with this class.  Over & above.

**Did the cost of the class= the value??

Cost= the value...yes I don't regret spending this amount & happy to continue to invest in myself with you & spend more.

**What was the best day of class for you??

Best day of class...Every Monday was like a vacation day for me.  Shopping was fun.

** What was the most challenging??

Nothing comes easy;  spray on Sympathy day.

My Review:

Learning from Christina has been so helpful in so many ways.  She is very willing to give good advice in order to help you achieve whatever your floral dream might be.  After taking the 12 day basic floral design class I am happy to continue to invest in myself and take her 5 day advanced class also.

At the end of the day, you go home with beautiful floral designs that you are also proud enought to give away.

I feel blessed to have found her.

Vicki Gayle

To Vicki:
Thank you so much for taking the time to share yourself in the classroom!  I am also blessed to have such amazing students that I learn so much from as well.

The journey that you take in floral design is challenging...but so rewarding in so many ways I can't begin to express....but if you join this amazing experience you will be on the path of floral PASSION!

Sincerely,
Christina Burton-Fox  AIFD

Fusion Flowers handtied Bouquet winner

Handtied bouquet competition breaks all records!

The Fusion Flowers magazine Facebook ‘fun’ handtied bouquet competition succeeded in breaking all existing records averaging 400,000+ people engaged on a daily basis and one particular day – it topped 1 million people!  It was a massive process for our editor who answered all the 4,500+ emails personally.

Fusion Flowers.com
And the winner is Nancy Vargas, Le Jardin Blanc, Southborough, MA – judge’s comments - beautifully presented bouquet ideal for a Mother who likes gardening, wonderful harmony, stems cut for maximum balance advantage, unusual toning choice - well done!

Nancy will receive a wee, fun, goodie box from Fusion Flowers magazine.

Having spoken with Nancy (who is over-the-moon) she actually teaches this style of gift bouquet in her school and had agreed to have her design photographed by her friend who needed some photographs for her portfolio!

CONGRATULATIONS!
