EMC at 'Back to the Future' Fleuramour 2019

From 27-30 September 2019, EMC graduates, students, Educational Team members along with Tomas De Bruyne and Christi Lopez AIFD EMC partook in the many facets of Fleuramour 2019 at Alden Biesen Castle, Blizen, Belgium.  The EMC Fleuramour Team was excited to be breaking new ground at the 24th annual event with the creation of the first ever Pop up Tent at Fleuramour.
With an open air construction, EMC Members and Educational Team demonstrated on the opening day of Fleuarmour engaging the public and individuals who were interested to see what the European Master Program had to offer.  The Team included Class of 2016 Graduates Christi Lopez AIFD EMC, Keith Stanley CFD EMC, Thomas Spiess EMC and Sherene S. Tan AIFD EMC; Class of 2018 Graduates Stacey Carlton AIFD EMC,  Svelta Savchnko EMC, Maureen Christmas AIFD EMC, Jennifer Figge EMC and Rebecca Raymond EMC; and Class of 2014 Graduate Julia Marie Schmitt AIFD EMC PFCI.

On Day 2, EMC celebrated the 2nd Annual EMC Family Day. With 23 EMC graduates and students attending this event, they were front and center at the EMC Demonstration in the Pit where 6 members of the EMC Educational Team designed and presented to a packed tent!  Cheering on the team of Stacey Carlton AIFD EMC (Marketing), Thomas Spiess EMC (Nomenclature Committee), Diana Toma EMC (Teaching Assistant), Keith Stanley CFD EMC (Teaching Assistant), Sherene S. Tan AIFD EMC (Teaching Assistant) and Julia Marie Schmitt AIFD EMC PFCI (PR and Events), everyone was inspired by the demonstration.
During the afternoon, the EMC family was privileged to have Moniek Vanden Berghe, Belgian Floral Master, share with them her design process.  And if that wasn't enough, French Master Frederic Dupre taught a bridal bouquet workshop where everyone learned a unique technique to create a construction with hand made paper. The day ended with a short celebration of EMC Family togetherness at a cocktail hour.

EMC Graduates also graced the castle with designs.  Class of 2016 Graduate Martine Soulier EMC with her Paris Based school designed one of the bridges while fellow 2018 Alumni Kristina RimienÄ— Emc created an amazing kinetic portal at the castle Entrance.  Anca Ungureanu EMC, Class of 2016, designed an amazing futuristic room and Julia Marie Schmitt AIFD EMC PFCI, created a Star Wars inspired piece for a hallway alcove.

During the festivities, Maureen Christmas AIFD EMC  won second place in the floral hat competition. Congratulations to her and to all 6 EMC graduates who entered the bridal bouquet and table design competitions.
In short, EMC created wonderful memories, renewed floral passions, reconnected Alumni and celebrated new friendships at Fleuramour 2019.  Mark your calendars for the 25th Celebration of Fleuramour in September 2020 and EMC's participation in the festivities. Til next year!
