Tip of the week....Florsits Review Magazine

Dazzle at delivery

tip of the week from            Florists Review Magazine  September 30, 2013

Help delivery drivers ensure your designs arrive at their very best by having the right tools at hand.
Give drivers a jug of pre-mixed flower food to take in the back of delivery vehicles to add to arrangements upon arrival at their destination, if needed. A clean milk jug or other lidded container works great.
Any last-minute topping up is easily done to ensure that customers get the best vase life, and if any water has accidentally sloshed out of an arrangement, it is easily replaced. For arrangements more likely to spill during transit, you can underfill the container just slightly and then fill the rest of the way upon arrival.
Having a vase of extra flowers and foliages in the vehicle is also smart. Should an arrangement’s ingredients become broken or bruised in transit, it’s no emergency. A quick switchout or extra insertion ensures a seamless delivery.

~~We hope that designs arrive just as they left the shop...bottom line we want the best product/design to be in the hands of our customers.  These tips from FR can be helpful to make that all happen.

~~ Post other ideas you use in your shops to ensure the designs are looking 100% at arrival.

Jason & Nicole's wedding FLOWERS part 2

All the girls....they looked amazing...and so did the bouquets!
The Bridal Bouquet in a special vessel to sit at the head table and have as a keepsake after the wedding for fresh flowers.

The Chuppah was made by my father, the kids were thrilled to have the ceremony take place under this structure.  Keeping it simple....Nicole is a beautiful Bride!  And Jason is very handsome....
These are designs from the rehearsal dinner. I kept picking up old muffin pans and knew they would be fun on the table tops...then ran across the ceramic mint individual muffin cup!  Sometimes you luck out and it all comes together!!!  We took some of these vessels and set ups to create additional designs for the wedding reception....Staying within the budget and repurposing!
Another special wooden table structure made by my father to elevate the vintage bottles with candle light.  These are my favorite table structures.....Lids from cans sprayed with chalk paint...tied to bottles with different messages.

 My Grandchildren!
Another wooden vessel made by my father with the test tubes wrapped in lace to take the contemporary vessel to a vintage look.

Nicole & Jason's Wedding Flowers 9-14-2013

These are photo's I took after our set up for my son's wedding...Nicole's vision of a Vintage Chic design.  There are collections of antique vessels, family heirlooms, and unique details that were all about Family.  The Wedding and Reception was at Mildale Farm in Edgerton, Kansas, a unique venue.

Lots of wonderful tea pots, cups and saucers, blue mason jars....just to name a few of the eclectic vessels that held fresh flowers.

 The Treat Room
A special area was set up for a nice selection of treats for the guests...the bride and groom had a small cake set up on a vintage chest in the main room for the cake cutting.
As you can tell, during the day it's quite bright in the venue....

Cake Chest...a special place for the cake cutting and toss bouquet.
Photo area...set for just a few or large groups.  The trunk is a family heirloom...my grandfather came to America from Italy with that trunk.  One of the special family items at the wedding.

The Bar...6 bar top tables and a photo area with the couch and special touches to make that group photo one of a kind....and have fun!

Flowers in the ladies and men's rooms....a wonderful built in shelf.
Again all the samll details, special chairs, swags...a perfect head table for 6....set right in front of the dance floor.
Nicole tore and tied all of the rope with the assorted fabrics and lace...some vintage and some new right off the bolts....it had a great impact over the dance floor with the twinkle lights.

For the fastest and easiest way to get balanced layers of these varied elements, mix all the materials first in a large box and simply pour them into the vases.

Accent Decor Great Gatsby shoot

Accent Decor, Inc.

Because so many of you have been requesting some more peeks into our Great Gatsby shoot, I'm happy to share a few more pictures with you here today.

The day of the Great Gatsby shoot dawned muggy and cloudly, not to mention surprisingly hot for May, even for Atlanta. We were thankful, however, for the shade as Ginny finished ironing linens and Amy plucked and styled flowers, both of them in their adorable straw hats.

Amy's flowers were so beautiful. And she just kept foraging and found the perfect touches to finish everything off perfectly.

We had everything all set up beneath a beautiful back-drop of cascading flowers, until the sun came out. And then we had to move everything across the lawn to chase the shade. And did I mention how hot it was? That sun coming out only made it hotter!

The shoot was at a private estate in Lullwater, and the grounds were incredible beautiful. We kept exploring and finding new nooks and crannies to hide in and shoot.

And the every-talented Ginny would just keep arranging and re-arranging until everything was just right.

Next we headed down into this wooded area where they had some old carnival toys, and this rusted-top table that was so beautiful and full of texture and color. Slowly but surely we kept going to get more flowers and vases and candlesticks and even a chair, until we had everything nestled into this little secret enclave.

Then Amy decided she needed to put together a little hand-tied bouquet to finish the look. Of course, she was right!Great Gatsby styled shoot - florals by @AmyOsaba and florals by @GinnyBranch

Finally, we re-assembled our entire table set-up in a more shaded part of the grounds. Once everything was moved and re-arranged until it was just exactly right, I snapped some pictures, and we called it a day.

Again, I cannot speak highly enough of both of these lovely ladies and the hard work and talent they pour into their work. We were honored for the chance to put this together alongside them and hope to work together again sometime!
