Students Wedding designs from the Professional Wedding class

These designs were created by the students that attended the Professional Wedding Class.  They are working with the new square and round Euro bridal bouqet holders.  As you can see these designs are not traditional, but very oppulent and stylish.  Everyone in this class had under 1 years experience in the industry.

This was the first time for all os them to design in this style of foam bouquet holder.  They also created a small carry design for mothers or flower girls.

The last assignment of the day was to create a unique ring bearers design.

The day also contained valuable information about how to be profitable in event and weddings.  The 8 students did a fantastic job with this design challenge.

Explore Floral Design		Maximum 6 students April 21,28,May 5,12,19,June 2,9,16,23,30 9-5 daily with a 1 hour lunch break 70 class hours of hands on training and lecture

Overview This 10 day Exploration Floral Design class will teach the basic principals of floral design, and so much more.  Each day will have a morning lecture and afternoon of hands on designing.  Students will participate in the processing and handling of fresh flowers each day for the lab session.   The students will be trained to execute all basic forms of design to apply for a floral designer position.  This is a required class for job placement.  The class offers business information on pricing for profit, daily sales, floral delivery expenses, tracking flowers that have expired.  The students will have a final exam on materials covered during lectures.  And every class day will be more fun than you can imagine and the amount of flowers to work with and industry information is fantastic! Floral Design Tools The Flower Classroom provides a Notebook of Floral information, Color Wheel and a California Flower Selection guide.  Students should bring something for note taking and a hand held calculator.  The classroom has assorted tools available to use, new floral tools are available in the classroom to purchase.  Any other tools necessary for the class will be available. Evaluation A certificate of completion of this class will be available with a passing grade on the final exam. Students that have enrolled and passed the Explore Floral Design and wish to enroll in the Advanced Floral design class that follows will be given a ½ off discount on that class price when combining these 2 classes. Flower selection will be seasonal.  The classroom will have a wide selection of flowers to choose from for design execution.  You will have permanent materials and all wire, tape, glue, etc. will be provided. Floral Tip of the week from Florists Review Magazine

April 7, 2014 Tips for Gerbera care Sunny Gerberas are a spring and summer favorite for consumers, but bent stems lead to disappointment. American Floral Endowment (AFE) funded researchers at the University of Florida offer the following tips to avoid such bending. Avoid storing Gerberas, and never store them in boxes. Unpack Gerberas immediately, cut stems, and place into freshly made hydration solution, preferably one formulated for Gerberas. Support the stems during hydration, and don’t let stems touch the bottom of the container. You can cover your buckets with chicken wire and suspend the Gerberas through this grid for the necessary support. Keep the flowers hydrating or displayed at 42 F for no more than two days. Give customers flower food packets and educate them on the importance of using the food.

Students create FLORAL ART

 Students create Floral ART for the DWF Wholesale trade show.

Denver Wholesale Floral offered a footprint and the flowers for students at the classroom to create designs.  The design challenge for some was they only had 10 days of training….but wow did they do a fantastic job with the challenge.

I created some basic structures for them to interpret, some they cam to me with inspirational ideas from the classroom library.  And a few of the students are very experienced in flroal design and have attended many of my Advanced professional classes.

The students were able to meet flower glrowers and vendors to the industry.  A design show that gave them additional ideas, tips and techniques for floral design.  Overall a fantastic evening for everyone!

The flower classroom is a well rounded course offered in a relatively short amount of time.  Christina has a wealth of knowledge as a florist, she's engaging and patient.  I loved working with so many flowers and taking so many arrangements home to enjoy.  I woul definitely recommend her clases to anyone!
