Florabundance

California Poppies the State Flower.
Industry news and more

Dear Christina,

Sunday we change the clock one hour ahead which means Spring is just around the corner! We are ready for your wedding and special event orders, by our indications the season will be a very good one.

Our local area (the California Central Coast) has had 17 storms this winter, thankfully without any incidents. The welcome rains and ensuing sunshine should lead to great flower production!

March 8 is International Woman's Day. A big deal in Europe (especially Russia), there are marketing efforts on the way in our country. We would love to get some feed back from you if you promote this day and see increased flower sales. Here is the link with the                                   WOMAN'S DAY HISTORY

St Patricks Day is March 17, please take a look and let us know what we can help you with in green flowers.

This coming weekend I will be attending the SAF Wholesale Flower Council Meetings in Washington DC. We meet with Wholesalers, Florists and Supply companies from around the country to address the most urgent issues facing the floral industry, the main goal is to find ways to increase floral consumption in the US. On Tuesday I will be wearing my California Flower Growers & Shippers Calflower hat. Our Cal delegation consists of retailers, growers and wholesalers. We go to Capitol Hill and meet with Senators and Representatives to present 3 major objectives that are important for our industry which Saf presents to us on the weekend.  If you are attending CAD Congressional Action Days please let me know, I would like to meet you in person. Please let me know your major concerns so I may share them in our presentations!

Many of you have signed up for our Holland Direct Program and I would like those who have never taken a look to try it. There is no minimum order and the shipping cost is worked into the price per stem or bunch. This is a great addition and complement to our California shipping program. The coming weeks is a great time to bring a few items in and see how the program works for you. Pick and choose through the list, the varieties to choose from are incredible! If you have questions or need assistance please drop me an email message.

Wedding March by Tom Bowling AIFD, PFCI

Tom BowlingSpring is that time of year when nature comes back to life from a peaceful rest. It is the time to be alive and to enjoy new growth and a welcomed refreshed look after a drab winter. Being alive again brings us a welcome relief of the more subdued, dull and dreary winter's pallet.
No better way to welcome spring than with the season of love and weddings! It is a time of celebrating the union of a happy couple. We are seeing some new and interesting color combinations again year.
The color harmony referred to as Blithebrings a softer, more subdued collection of Soft Blush, Navy, Sea Mist and Custom Champagne. The soft pink, the almost non-existent green and whisper soft taupe champagne are punched with a deep blue for an accent of color.
The color collection known as Citrus has a bit more of a wow factor. This collection capitalizes on the 'Living Coral' which as we know is Pantone's color of 2019, Coral and light pink intertwine with organic green and blue to give us a sophisticated but casual collection. These colors are the perfect background color pallet for luscious peonies and punchy roses!
Sunkissed says, "Wake up! Summertime is in the air"!! A fresh addition of pineapple yellow, ivy green, and soft blush. Colors, like good floral design, need a good balance of color proportion. Since tallow is such a strong color it needs to be softened with colors that give the eye some relief. That is what the blush and green do in this color harmony. It will indeed leave guests smiling in the end!
A strong but understated collection for the summer of 2019 is a collection called Willow. While the colors are not as punchy as some collections, this assemblage has more of a bleached summer sun look. Warm soft shades of greens and pastels are back again giving a more ethereal palette. Green Willow, Celadon, Blonde, peach, and Lilac Mist are delicate and tranquil making it easy on the eyes. It becomes almost dream-like and perfect for those intimate garden weddings. Delicate florals are the perfect addition to this relaxed palette.
Depending on your location or your brides' influences, Surfis found on a breezy hot summers day and inspires a stunning jewel-toned teal balanced by super cool neutrals. Modern, hip, and minimal are three adjectives that best describe this summer inspiration. Ivories and greens are the perfect addition to this teal based blue. Keep it cool, keep it clean, and keep it simple is the best advice for floral suggestions.
Dewdrop takes us back a step in time with this vintage medley of sage, pinks, powdery blue and beige. Romantic neutrals come to life when paired with warm and cool shades found in nature. No better way to showcase those fabulous summer blush peonies!  This just calls for the accents of antiques and crotched vintage lace!
These are just a few of the 2019 spring / summer collections we will be seeing our clients using this year. Florabundance has just the right selections of products that help bring your brides wants to reality! Whether the need is bold and tropical to small and delicate, their selection of the perfect accent can be found on the Florabundance website...be sure and check it out.
While perusing the website, be sure and have on hand flowers that are available to celebrate Women's Day. March 8 this designated as International Women's Day - a day dedicated to lifting up the social, economic, cultural, and political accomplishments of women. It is also rooted in raising awareness of the issues women face across the spectrum. Be ready to help with beautiful blooms!
