Sun Valley Flowers

Edition 51
White Daisy Matricaria
White Daisy Summer
One of the most popular flowers we grow in Oxnard is Matricaria. The classic white daisy  variety grows extremely well in the sunny climate of Southern California. Traditionally, Matricaria has been thought of as a "filler flower," however, flower designers and buyers are challenging this assumption.

Paired with flowers such as tulips or iris, or just in straight bunches, white daisy's natural, wild flower look is resonating with consumers and it seems to be taking on a much more prominent role in the flower world.

Although I'm a farmer, not a designer, I've had a few bunches on my desk the last week or so, and it's been eye-opening. This truly is an engaging flower, full of charm and personality.

Classic Starfighters

Most admired lily of all-time? Hands down the classic Stargazer, and the second generation Starfighter. The summer growing conditions for oriental lilies on the cool California coast is ideal. Growing lilies at low-elevation leads to more saturated colors, bigger buds and longer vase life...which in turn, makes for happy customers.
Sunflower Fun Flower!

Our Baja farm is bursting with Rainforest Alliance Certified SUNFLOWERS! We have a wide selection of varieties available and right now is the beginning of peak season.

Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity.  ..and they are darn pretty as well.

AIFD Symposium X

The Sun Valley team was just in Seattle for the AIFD Symposium. This is a very inspiring event, which truly highlights the most creative designers in the industry.

We are proud to be an Industry Partner for this event, as it is truly a place where cutting edge designers come to learn, as well as, teach.

See some beautiful images from the event on our blog.
Kale AKA Cabbage AKA Brassica
Sun Valley Brassica will be coming in strong for the foreseeable future.

Brassica has a very organic down to earth vibe, but with its impressive girth and natural color palette, it is a very versatile bouquet item. Check in with your sales rep. to see what colors we have a available today.

What's NEW? Kalanchoe
We are now growing Kalanchoe in Oxnard.  This colorful crop is available in small quantities now, with bigger numbers going forward at the end of August. This has long been sold as a potted flower, but it is now emerging as a cut flower.

We are growing six colors: white, dark yellow, warm orange, darling red, light pink and sweet pink. (pictured above)
