One of the most popular flowers we grow in Oxnard is Matricaria. The classic white daisy variety grows extremely well in the sunny climate of Southern California. Traditionally, Matricaria has been thought of as a "filler flower," however, flower designers and buyers are challenging this assumption.
Paired with flowers such as tulips or iris, or just in straight bunches, white daisy's natural, wild flower look is resonating with consumers and it seems to be taking on a much more prominent role in the flower world.
Although I'm a farmer, not a designer, I've had a few bunches on my desk the last week or so, and it's been eye-opening. This truly is an engaging flower, full of charm and personality.

Classic Starfighters
Most admired lily of all-time? Hands down the classic Stargazer, and the second generation Starfighter. The summer growing conditions for oriental lilies on the cool California coast is ideal. Growing lilies at low-elevation leads to more saturated colors, bigger buds and longer vase life...which in turn, makes for happy customers.
