August 11, 2014Networking pays off
We're often highly focused on connecting with our customers, but building up business-to-business and other local connections is equally important.
Consider committing one hour a week to meeting a new contact. Are you part of your local chamber of commerce and taking part in networking events it offers? Are you reaching out and asking for informal meetings with local business leaders that you'd like to meet? Work through mutual friends if a cold-call is uncomfortable. Florists always need good connections with local funeral home operators, wedding venue owners and party planners, and others responsible for large community events. Reach out now to create new relationships or solidify existing ones. It may take time, but you never know when a connection will result in your next big wedding, event or long-term client. |
