American Flowers Week 2016

A social media campaign, marketing tool & reason to celebrate!
On May 1st, Slowflowers.com announces the 2nd annual AMERICAN FLOWERS WEEKcampaign, giving flower farmers, florists, wholesalers and designers a fun reason to promote local, seasonal, American-grown flowers.
American Flowers Week is a week-long celebration of domestic flowers, created to raise consumer awareness and unite America’s flower farmers with the U.S. floral industry. You're invited to join the party and create your own fireworks! Let's blitz social media and get #americanflowersweek trending!
Here are details so you can start planning your activities, June 28 through July 4, 2016:
  • Use our Graphics. Use our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter-friendly logos.
  • Declare your support. Click here to download our "I'm Joining American Flowers Week" badge.
  • Fly your Red, White and Blue flowers and get ready to post images with #americanflowersweek across Social Media and in your customer outreach efforts.

ABOUT OUR GRAPHICS
For 2016, you can use a suite of logos and other graphics to enhance your web site, advertising, educational efforts and branding.
Designed by our gifted graphics gal Jenny Diaz, we love the appealing palette that puts a twist on conventional red-white-blue and brings in touches of teal and coral while also being thoroughly patriotic with stars & stripes.

Team up to Represent!

AMERICAN FLOWERS WEEK is two months away, so YOU have time to get involved! Join the ambitious plan to showcase "50 States of American Flowers" in an online gallery of images. We want to feature at least one bouquet from each state! Farmers and florists are encouraged to team up and submit a floral image that represents your State's unique beauty and creativity.
These images will be shared with the media and made available to bloggers and editors who want to illustrate American Flowers Week and the people who grow and design with those blooms.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Other than showing off your talents, all teams or individuals who submit a floral arrangement by June 15th will be entered in our drawing to win some great prizes. We'll update the list on the American Flowers Week website -- so check it frequently.

Thank You, Farmers!

American Flower Farms
Donate Stems & Blooms

When we commissioned Slowflowers.commember Susan McLeary of Passionflower Events in Ann Arbor, Michigah, to design this gorgeous "Flower 'Fro" to help promote American Flowers Week 2016, she generously donated her design services.

Thank YOU to the following farms for their support! All of the Red, White & Blue blooms you see here were donated by American flower farms, our friends who embrace this campaign:
Camflor Inc. (Watsonville, California)
Choice Bulb Farm (Mt. Vernon, Washington)
Ocean View Flowers (Lompoc, California)
Oregon Coastal Flowers (Tillamook, Oregon)
Peterkort Roses (Hillsboro, Oregon)
Resendiz Brothers (Fallbrook, California)
Sonshine Farm (Whidbey Island, Washington)

Inspiring ideas from 2015 American Flowers Week

Borrow a few of our fav ideas from last year's #americanflowersweek and plan your own ways to expression support:

Instagram-it
April Lemly of Portland-based Kamama Flowers announced #americanflowersweek with a punched-up message for Instagram

Design-it
Christina Stembel of SF-based Farmgirl Flowerscreated a special "firecracker" bouquet with a 10% discount for #americanflowersweek

Ribbon-it
Stars and stripes aren't always easy to find in flowers or foliage. That's why we love this red-and-white striped ribbon to convey the Independence Day support of American-grown flowers.
