Encourage customers to “Shop Small”
As we mark Veterans Day today, we look ahead to the busy time in two weeks that includes both Thanksgiving and Hanukkah. But there’s another “holiday” that week that is worth promoting.
Small Business Saturday – local retailers’ answer to Black Friday – is in its fourth year of encouraging holiday shoppers to keep their dollars in their communities.
There’s still time to promote your own Small Business Saturday plans for Nov. 30. Use your website, blog, Facebook and Twitter to get the word out quickly. Piggyback on your holiday deliveries with a verbal reminder or a quickly printed flier to accompany arrangements.
To encourage lots of foot traffic, offer a special perk for that day only, such as an exclusive arrangement or a deep discount on a single item or category.
